Re: Lost spark or my marbles
Are you sure it's losing spark? Have you thought about the fuel pump relay?

Then it's fine for a 1/2 mile or so - Any idea how i could tell if its spark or not while I'm driving ? Relay sounds like an idea -I could put a gauge on the fuel rail and watch it while driving problem is it only happens once in a while - Do you know how to check the relay off hand- My VW book seems to have taken a walk...

Re: Lost spark or my marbles
Watching the fuel pressure is a good idea if you can watch it as it dies. You can try feeling the relay when it dies to see if it's getting too hot. It's position #6, upper right. Relays are difficult to test but you can try inserting a jumper wire into the relay's two larger slots (#27 & #33) on the fuse panel to bypass the relay & see if the problem stops. A failing main or lift pump could also be at fault.
