96 blazer running hot
we've changed everything that could possibly be making it run hot, and still can't figure out what is causing it. Here's a list of what we've changed, if anyone knows anything we've missed please let us know. Thermostat (5), radiator, water pump (2), heater core (3), fan clutch, we've flushed it twice since we've changed everything and it's still running hot.

Re: 96 blazer running hot
I'd find someone with a scantool to find out what temp the PCM sees. Or when its running hot, find the single wire temp sender which is usually on the drivers side of the engine between cylinders #1 and #3 and check resistance between the wire on the sending unit side and ground

Re: 96 blazer running hot
The Dex-cool anti-freeze turns into sand when it gets old and/or when engine overheats. The 100,000 mile life is BS, it should be changed at 50,000 or sooner according to mechanics I've talked to. Anyway I flushed the system out several times over a few days until the water was fairly clear. Then I replaced the water pump, radiator and hoses. I cut the old radiator in half and it was plugged with that grit that forms from the anti freeze. So if you flushed after you replaced the radiator it may be plugged from the flushing.

On the chevy blazer posts there is a post on Dex-Cool and the problems it can cause. There is also a class action suit against them. Check it out www.BigClassAction.com/mycase.html
