Hey y'all I'm new to this but I've got a quick question that I really need some help on. I've got this rattling noise that's cause by some circular object (looks like a weight of some sorts and it's making rattlingnoises because it's loose) that's located directly behind the fan belt pulley. Can somebody tell me what it is and it's purpose. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

Hey vortec,
I'm not really knowledgablel on cars but it's the fan belt that runs closest to the air filter. Right in front of the air filter but directly below it is where the rattling is coming from. The circular object (weight???) is right behind the aforementioned fan belt pulley. Just by eyeballing it, it doesn't look like it affects the mechanical functions of the vehicle but the rattling is extremely annoying. Hope the info helps. I just want to know what it is and it's purpose before I take it in to a mechanic. Thanks, and much appreciated. |

Re: 1985 S-10 Blazer
Hey Hakogen,
I don't think a belt was ever there. I checked my belts and they're all fine (tension wise), like I previously stated this object is right behind the pulley (the bottom half). I've been searching the internet for engine layouts for this year and model to find out what this object is but haven't been successful. Thanks for the reply. |
