Cool Dash lights

My dash lights seem to be very dim. I've tried to rotate the switch but it has little effect. Do I need to install a new one or is this the way the lights are in Fieros'. Was thinking of maybe brighter bulbs but I see where there is an electrical sending unit there. Could this be my problem?? Thanks

Re: Dash lights

You might have a few bulbs out which would drastically cut down on the light making it appear dim overall. If they are all ok, then you can buy brighter bulbs but I don't know why if they are all working why they would all be so dim.
Another option would be to maybe swap the guage pod with another that is known to light up ok.
Just a few thoughts.

I see that there is a transformer that regulates the power to the lights, I'm thinking of maybe trying to replace that too. All the bulbs appear to be working it's just that at night it is very hard to see the guages. If you hear of anything else I would appreciate the info. Thanks Rick

Re: Dash lights

My dash lights are very dim as well, so if I find out why I'll let you know. My tailights aren't working either, and I suspect a bad ground, and that may have an effect on the dash lights as they are on the same switch.

My tail lights work but the dash light are extremely dim. While driving at night I can just about make out the guages. I suspect that the transformer is bad but at 40bucks a pop it may have to wait a week to be replaced. LOL Looks like day driving is tha plan till then.

Re: Dash lights

Replaced the dimmer transformer and BINGO bright lights are on the dash. The transformer is located on the left side of the dash to the right of the steering column. maybe if you take and clean the contacts it may work too. I've heard of this being done.
