Re: Fuel filter replacement

update....i took it back to the place where i got the fuel filter put on and they tell me that the cattalitic converter is red hot and is the reason the car is acting up...is this a fluck coinsidence or is there a possibility that they accidently messed it up while installing the fuel filter.....i think this is crazy and i told them they are paying for it...

Re: Fuel filter replacement

Well the only reason a fuel filter replace could make your car act is that has leaks. The Cat could be a problem if it gets all cluttered up, could the car to heistate, stall and rough idle

Re: Fuel filter replacement

How many miles does the car have? The only time I changed the cat on one of my cars is when I was driving with bad spark plug wires. I don't think by changing your fuel filter they could of killed the cat. Fuel pumps can go bad because they're an electric motor and they lose their power. If you had that fuel filter on there for awhile and it was dirty your causing that fuel pump to work harder. They say its a good idea to change fuel pumps every 100k.

they told me the cat has no probs at all and that the fuel pump looked good and was giving off the right amount of presure....this really makes me suspecious of the place that changed my oil and fuel filter b/c they told me the cat was red hot and blowing black smoke and that the fuel pump wasnt sending enough presure....i dont understand why they would lie to me if they didnt do anything...

i ended up just going to get the car b/c they couldnt figure out anything wrong with it...

the car died on the way home and just started right back up...

i dont know whats going on...
any suggestions would be very helpful...if i cant find anyone to fix this i will have to get rid of it...i cant have my girlfriend and daughter driving around in that car...

btw the car has 110k on it...
