that sucks man, I feel yea on that one, but I have a VR-4....sooo....hmmm, all i can say is, I can kick some stang ass for you? lol, but seriously, I will never own a front wheel drive car, something about them I just dont like, bad traction, really only decent on top end, although I know there are some 11 sec SL's out there, but all I can say we are heavy, and you have a 3.0 dohc...versus a 4.6 dohc. The stang has you on weight i think, horses, and torque....all I can say, is your car has potential, and I rarely see many fast stangs out there...My friend being one of the rareities has a 90 fox body that lays down 11.8 in the quater all motor...5.1 liter....scary....But keep tryin, and now regrets, hell, do a turbo swap, or just keep soupin it up, you'll be killin stangs in no time, but i think you should be keeping up with them now....but get working, turn air box to open filter, gut some cats, dump so exhaust, and do some other nice free mods that can help you out before the weekend racing comes up, like dump some wieght...lol, i take out lots of shit before i hit the streets with nothing but kickin ass in mind, gotta be light mang, lol...peace

Don't regret the SL, its a very decent car, especially if you ever had to drive a 4 cylinder for a year or 2 of your life. It looks sexy, it's good for getting girls, and 222hp isn't anything to be ashamed of, it's not a vr4, so what, there will always be something faster. I get dissappointed I am still driving a stock vr4, I have tons of plans and no money to make them a reality. Be happy with what you have, because in all honesty, it could be alot worse...

be happy you don't have the vr-4 repair bills, the sl can be very fast just takes work and learning

GT stangs are 4.6L SOHC V8. The DOHC V8's are alot tougher. And then Cobras... It's okay though, SL's are still really nice cars.

I know, very old thread...but here's what u should do (what i have done), the sl is quick, not off the line so much, but highway ur good, plus it looks better than mustang GT and anything under a porsche. Save up a grand or two, buy a 88-92 firebird / camaro w/ a 350 in it...beats any mustang GT (even if the mustang has intake / exhaust and u have stock ) once again sorry about the old thread.

Yes, I have an SL and I love her. Sure, it's not the fastest car out there but like everyone has pointed out....there will always be someone faster. Not only that, she's beautiful.

3000gts may not be the fastest, but they aren't slow by any means...and the looks will always be the best...well, till u get to those supercars. Enjoy your SL, i did.

I have raced a 03 GT stang and beat the shit out of it and i have an SL. when i say "beat the shit out of it", i mean like a car link, that is it. I don't know if he just sucked at driving or if he was just messing around but it sounded like he was gunning it because those things come with exhaust already on them and you can tell the difference between someone just slightly accelerating and pressing the petal to the floor.

u can get beat the older stang gt's if they are autos! lol, the 3kgt sl is quick, esp. for it being an old car, its able to compete with all the new technology! Dont be ashamed be happy, if a gt beats u, he should.
