Actually we are getting both. So were now sure of where else to go,though im starting to think that it could be in the fuel injection.Cant seem to find much information about it and were both use to working on older cars .....without all this computer crap )

Does you check engine light stay on? Could be dumping fuel giving you a rich condition. Injectors stuck open, coolant temp. sensor bad. No way of telling without hooking up to a scan tool.

Re: 94 lumina euro 3.1 wont start

Not totally familiar with Fuel Injection vs. carburetor but if it is flooded, can you smell the fuel as with the carburetor?

Mother-in-law's 93 Lumina 3.1 won't start at all. It doesn't even spit or sputter,.... just cranks. New problem with it.

Is there a quick way to see if the fuel pump is working and what is a quick way to see if the plugs are sparking without getting zapped?

If you turn the key on (without starting), you should hear a 'humm' from the fuel pump. If you do hear the 'humm', hit the gas tank with a piece of wood or a rubber mallet (some good hard whacks) to see if it helps kick the pump into action. If you do not hear the humming, replace it.
