Re: would a 300zx be quicker with a 2jz engine in it?

Depends on how they're tuned. Stock for stock, the RX-7 weighs much less, but the 300ZX has a hefty power advantage.

Why put a 2JZ into a 300ZX? There's really no advantage to doing so, unless you are getting into very, very high levels of tuning, where the 2JZ's extra durability will help.

The 2JZ has virtually the same displacement, so mod for mod, there won't be a huge difference between it and the stock VG.

2JZ? Why-??? That's retarded... you would be better off putting in an RB26DETT or just buy a SUPRA....

Re: would a 300zx be quicker with a 2jz engine in it?

well skyline engines are very hard to find and when they are found they are worth they're weight in gold plus i heard putting them in cost a lot of money and fabrication. as for the supra again money is a big issue plus not many people would go up against a supra now if it were a supera in disquise (300zx) who's body I love way more than any supra. lastly among the two engines which has more aftermarket support, and less costly aftermarket suport, gotta think ahead cause I'm serious about a new speed project and I'm looking for an ideal body engine marriage the other concept that I'm really battleing with is a 20b mazda rotary engine in a toyota mr2 imagine mid engine rotary power it would certianly be a under cover contender to be recond with.

Stick with the VG30DETT... a 2JZ swap will cost you as much as the RB!

Could you even stuff either of those under the short sloped hood of a Z? The Rbs and the JZ is taller then the VG I think and hell, that engine is practically poured in there. I know when I was trying to get together money for a RB25 240SX, one of the things that was brought up by people that have done them was that hood clearence was an issue sans buying or making custom engine mounts. There would be so much custom work invovled in such a swap that you could probably make some crazy 700 hp VG for the same cash...*drools*

Stretch the front end??? Limo style, huh? I never heard of anyone doing this to make an engine fit!!!! You know not of what you speak!!!

YES! the 2JZ Supra motor has been swapped into a Z32! Ever hear of OPTION Magazine??? They have a section now and then with the most INSANE MOTOR SWAPS! RB in a S14, SR in a FD, Rotary in S13, VG30 in an' Old School SKYLINE, RB in a Z32, RB in a JZA80, and 2JZ in a Z32... these are just a few of the swaps you will see done... w/o any stretching of course!!!
