Question LS1, LS6, LT1.... What is it?

My question is what engine do I have?
I have a 2004 silverado, 1500, 5.3L V8. Is that engine a LS1, LS6, LT1, or anything like that, or is it just a 5.3L 5300 V8. Does it have a name like a LS something? I think the camaro and corvette have the names like that for the engines that they have. But is the awesome 5.3 not worthy of a title, cause I think that it is. If nobody has the answer maby we should give it a name, any suggestions? I don't know be creative. Thanks

I think it is a LM7, check the RPO list in your glove box

Re: LS1, LS6, LT1.... What is it?

Its based off the LS-1. I dont know what the engine code is though (like the HO Vortec 6.0 is the LQ9)

Re: LS1, LS6, LT1.... What is it?

The LS1 is a vette 350, I think the current vette motor is the LS6, also a 350. Just looked at the GM site, says firing order for both the LS1 and LS6 is 1 8 7 2 6 5 4 3, same as the LM7, LQ4, and L18. The corvette blocks are cast aluminum and the trucks have cast iron

Re: LS1, LS6, LT1.... What is it?

Like I said, the vortec 4800/5300/6000 are based off the LS1, but there are differences, lol. That's why those trucks rev pretty high (for a truck) and pull hard all the way through the rpm range, lol.

WHOA!!!!!!!

Chevy's got a small block firing order that's NOT 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2????

Can't......handle......information.......brain.... ..hurting........

Those numbers are as etched in my brain as Jenny's phone number (867-5309).

Now what am I going to do? Is the 5.3 in our trucks this new order?

Re: LS1, LS6, LT1.... What is it?

I think the LS1 started this firing order in 2000, supposedly all GM V8's are this way now, they just might as well made the sun rise in the west

The firing order was changed for the Generation III small block which was first introduced in the 97 Corvette as RPO "LS1".

LT1, LS1, LS6, LM7, L98 etc are all just GM RPO codes for engines just as Z71, Z28, Z82 etc are for various optional equipment as listed on the label in your glove box.

Re: LS1, LS6, LT1.... What is it?

they need to bring back the 350 lol i love that motor. im using one in my 73 truck restoration. as for the LS6, i thought that was a 450+ horsepower 454 from the late 60's or early 70's or something. did they ressurect that name for a newer engine or something?
