zc drag times

i ran the track last night 1/8th mile. my times were mostly in the 9.6's i got two of them in 9.7's. my fastest was 9.623. my reaction times SUCKED 1.1 mainly and my best reaction was 8.4 so hopefully i can work on those and have a low 9 or so i'd be happy with.

it's a 89 civic hatch std with a stock zc i/e/h/L.fw/ zc tranny.
and i adjusted my valves they were WAY off

Re: zc drag times

i thought when the light dropped time started. then the reaction time was how long it take for you to get off the line. and it was included into your total times? please advise?...

Re: zc drag times

The reaction time is how fast you act off the green light you can sit there for 4 hour's and still run a 13.8

The time starts when your tires leave the staging beam's or the last beam.

What you want to be good is your 60' time, if your reaction time's are good thats only really needed for bracket racing and like street racing.

Your time's are pretty good, due to the light chasis, what are you traping at in the 1/8th? what are your 60's?

Re: zc drag times

What kind of tire's are you using? those 2.1's are decent

It seem's like your mph's are alittle slow for your times but not much, so maby the zc kinda fall's off top end?

What is the sea level at your track? Or where do you live?

Re: zc drag times

well i'm using 15 inch rims with ecsta 711's around 30 psi i honestly don't know what the sea level is i suppose that would be nice to know.... i live in Greensboro, NC i think my mph may be bad because i'm spending a lot of time spinning off the line and 2nd gear. i normally go into 3rd gear no too far before the 1/8th marker. i want to travel to a 1/4th and see what i do.

Re: zc drag times

pretty good so you run about a 14.7-15.0 quarter mile. Most likely 14.9-15.0

Re: zc drag times

those are decent 60 fts but lower your tire pressure a bit you can probably get a 1.9

Re: zc drag times

I know when I had my ZC, I had it stock with only a PVC intake and it was to a 5 speed in a 5th gen hatch on 17's. best I could pull after 3 runs was 16.6. I got 16.9, 16.8 then 16.6 maybe could have gotten it lower after more tries, but then shortly after the trip to the track it broke down, so maybe thats a reason of the slow times, but about it falling at the top end, I know off the line I could about keep up with a mid 15 car of my friends, but then 3rd gear comes and he pulls away pretty good, but on the freeway on the way home from the track I got walked by 95 accord EX sedan with only intake and exhaust, plus its auto with heavy system, tv, dvd player. and he didnt run his car at the track os I dont know what it would have ran but I saw a 96 EX coupe with I/H/E, 5 speed run 17.1/17.2s all day. so my mid 16 car got whooped by a mid 17 second car on the freeway.
