Re: 1995 Ford contour GL tranny slip drive to overdrive please look...

Im' sure with that many miles, its already been rebuilt. And has had the updated parts installed. It seems strange to say its slips only in OD. Due to it really shouldn't just slip in 4th gear(internally). It should have problems in other gears as well. By tranny design.

Couple questions for you:

1. When it makes the transition to 4th does the engine RPMs race up but don't seem to pull the car? Goes to like nuetral
2. Do you get a bucking/jerking feeling?

1.Yes, The rpms jump when it goes into 4th not to much but sometimes its worse than others and when i turn my od off and on with the button it wont slip its only when i accelerate and let of so it goes into overdrive.....not totally let off but move my foot back on the gas pedal

2.No

I would think its the belt slipping not the tranny.
