93 z28 dies
Driving my '93 Z28 at 40 mph and the engine suddenly dies. It didn't sputter out, just quit. I pull to a stop and put it in park and try to start it....it cranks strongly but won't catch. Cranks and cranks but it won't start.
Since it just cut off, I suspect spark. The Optispark was replaced last June. Wires and connectors look good. ???? Any suggestions? TIA. |

When I turn the key, I can hear the pump for a second, then a click and it shuts off.
Mileage and gauge show it has gas. .......flatbed tow truck on the way ........ Last edited by Kruzer; 04-23-2004 at 11:35 AM. |

Re: 93 z28 dies
get a test light, and check all your fuses, (quicker than pullen em all) and see if any are bad, specificly the fuel injector fuses, even if the fuel pump is workin, if the injectors arent gettin a signal, they wont spray.

Re: Re: 93 z28 dies
Even though your gas gauge shows you have gas doesn't mean you do. I had a 93 Z28 that when the gauge showed it had a little over 1/8 almost a 1/4 of a tank it was out of gas. GM gas gauges suck... Almost every GM car that I've had has had a problem with the gas gauge. My 96 SS gas gauge bounces when the level gets below a 1/2 a tank.

Gas gauge shows 3/4 of a tank. Unless the mileage took a dump at the same time as the gauge, it has gas.
Update: I gave up and towed it to the local Chevy dealer. Codes showed ignition module. They are going to replace it and see if that does it. If not, the old one goes back in and the search will continue. |
