98 Aurora Foglight Bulb Replacement

Have a new set of bulbs to match my silverstars, I looked at the foglight assembly front and underneath and didn't see any access points. Gave up after that because I had a bunch of other things to do. Has anyone done this job before that can point me in the right direction. thx.

Its not that hard at all...there is a black plastic shield under the front of the car which I was able to bend and move somewhat to get the bulbs in...the plastic has little black pins that you should be able to pull with a pair of plyers...just be careful because these pins are easy to destroy.

Re: 98 Aurora Foglight Bulb Replacement

If you can jack up the car a bit it will really help. I had a hard time with the car on level ground.

Disabling the DRLs is not supposed to be easy to do. I dredged this up from a while back for more details:

I disabled the DRL's but the lights still come on at dusk when you put it in gear.

Just thought I'd let you know

Re: 98 Aurora Foglight Bulb Replacement

That must have something to do with the twilight sentinel?

DRL is law in Canada on all post 92 cars. I would rather not get busted for it.

There was an entire thread dedicated to fog lamp replacement. It ran in the latter part of March 2004 and into early April. Here's the link: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=209593

Good Luck!

I know what you mean. Sometimes you want to sit in the dark with the engine running and be able to turn the lights out.

btw...my sentinal is all the way to the bottom and clicked off I guess.

In my 98 if you are in Park and the twilight sentinel all the way off then the lights are off - they only come back on if you move the shifter out of park.

I know that my DTL don't run while the car is in park but usually the instant I start the car in the dark I have parking, headlights, fogs, dash. Does this mean that something is screwed up..please don't say something else is screwed up..lol

Re: 98 Aurora Foglight Bulb Replacement

You have your twilight sentenial turned on. That is why all of your lights turn on as soon as you start your car. It is the exact same thing is if you had the twilight sentenial option turned off and just manually turned on your head lights. All the lights on the dash are lit and all of the lights outside the car are lit. There should be a knob on the left side of the dash that says twilight sentenial. If you turn it all the way down until it clicks off, then your lights will not turn on at all by themselves at night. Then you will have to turn them on and off manually like everyone else in the world. And you will notice, if you turn it all the way up, the lights will stay on for a minute or so after you get out of the car. If you just put it slightly above the initial click, then it will only stay on for a second or so after you turn off the car. But having the lights stay on for a few minutes after you shut off the car is a safety feature incase you are in a bad neighborhood. Then the lights can stay on and light up the area until you are inside and the doors locked. Then they turn off automatically. I like the twilight sentenial feature. But I only put my just slightly above the click. When I had them stay on for a few seconds, I had way too many people keep on telling me as a walked away from my car that I left my lights on. And then I would have to explain to them that "they will turn off." But that got to be too much of a hassle.

Re: 98 Aurora Foglight Bulb Replacement

nope, my twilight sentinal is off, they still come on when i start the car at night. I had a 99 Blazer that did the same thing, and their was a sensor in the passenger side speaker grill that i disconnected and put a resistor in the plug and that disabled them.
