Angry fourth set of PIAA bulbs in one year???

I have PIAA super plasma bulbs in my '01 civic. These bulbs look great and have enhanced my driving visibility greatly, but I have gone through four sets of bulbs within the last year. I never touch the glass, I always make sure I don't bump the bulbs against anything during replacement. I make sure the rubber seal that goes around the bulb housing is tight. In short, I take special care of these expensive bulbs. I have never messed with any of the wiring, but I have read on PIAA's corperate website that the ground connection should be direct to the battery. Can anyone help me figure out how to get the max life before my waranty expires?

Re: fourth set of PIAA bulbs in one year???

sounds to me like your shorting out !!! check all your headlight wiring..especialy your grounds..check the connection from the wiring harness to the socket then the socket to the bulb ! your shorting out somehwere , that is the only reason you would blow 4 sets of bulbs in a year. now your gonna wanna get real thorough with this because its a real minor short ie: something like a light cut or fray in a wire , because its only doing it every so often not on a basis. Is there and common factors that have played a role when these bulbs blow ? bumpy road, lots of rain, just washed car etc etc. ????

if the wattage of those bulbs are higher than the originals then they will create more heat, which means less bulb life.

However you go through bulbs pretty quickly, unusual, so I would recommend you try Sylvania SilverStars for a while. It has same watts as Stock bulbs, then see how long they last, if they burn out quickly too, then it means your cars to blame. So try thicker wiring upgrade, and/or add relays so you can hook up the headlights directly to the battery.
