Question turbo bypass valve

hello, i have just bought a 2001 jetta 1.8t and i purchased a turbo xs bypass valve but after i installed it i noticed nothing. no sound no performance nothing. i am wondering if i need a boost controller because i am not pushing out enough boost to make the pssst sound or if the car just won't and can't make one. if someone could help it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Re: turbo bypass valve

Bypass valve, you mean a Blowoff valve, right? First off, is the engine Turbo'd? If not thats youre prob, I am not sure if the stock 1.8t is turbocharged, I am guessing it is. The Blowoff valve should not really increase performance, it blows off excess pressure when you change gears, so either you are not generating enough pressure or you just dont have a turbo and therefore cant generate the pressure. Of course it could also be that the Blowoff is faulty, in which case you should return it and try to get a refund.

Re: turbo bypass valve

Or it could just be that you installed it wrong.

1.8T = 1.8L Turbocharged and intercooled inline 4
