Brake light not working

Hi, I hope some one has an Idea on where to look for the cause of this problem.

1999 Pontiac Sunfire

The brake lights on the fenders do not work but the center one does.
Both the left and right turn signal work.
The 4way flashers work
Where is the problem?

I am having the same problem with my brake lights & hubby even took the car to a dealer & they couldn't (OR WOULDN"T) tell him where the problem was loacted . I have been told it is the multifunction switch & then told that car does not have a multifunction switch. Then I was told it is the stoplight switch, but no one is able to tell me where the switch is located. Can any of you help me?!?! we also can't seem to find the 99 sunfire manual in town, & I live in Las Vegas....lol...I guess everyone bought them out. Going to order one online since I am sure I will need it.
Hubby used to be a mechanic when cars were easy to work on. The first place I took my car when I had smoke coming from the steering colum (over a year ago) is the one that said I need the multifunction switch but at the time every thing in the car was working properly. Now I have the brake light problem. HELP !! HELP!!! Vegas drivers don't notice the brake light in the center & I have almost been plowed over a few times now. I am driving like a turtle so they pass me now...lol
