loud humming noise

I have a 2002 chevy blazer 2wd with 44,000 miles. Getting a loud humming noise when driving down the road, it seems to go away when making a wide right turn and louder when making the same turn to the left. I think it the wheel bearing, if so does any one have a proceed on how to replace the bearing? If not does any have an idea on what it could be.

Check the rear end of the drive shaft, may need to be greased, I had the same problem and that was my problem.

Wheel Bearing/Hub

Not hard to replace, (if that's your problem). I had the same situation with mine, but I felt it more than heard it. A loud noise could be the front diff trying to engage. There's a huge post on this subject started by Glenn Peters a couple of pages back in the forum. Just get a Haynes manual or Chiltons at the local parts store and follow the directions in there. I believe the front hub nut is a 36mm or you can use a 1 7/8 in deepwell socket. The torque spec's are 103 ft lbs. and you'll probably have to use a 3/4" drive. The other bolts for the caliper and hub are 18mm I think. Also, you might need a simple puller to get the old hub out. Mine was stuck on pretty good. Make sure you grease the old splines on the cv joint and the inner part of the new hub with a little grease before you stick it on.

Re: loud humming noise

i'm gonna have to agree with you on the wheel when you turn it either places more load on the bearing or reduces it so the noise changes. i'm guessing the noise is comming from the front right wheel. i actually don't know what kind of set up a 2wd blazer has up front cause there all 4X4's up here.If you buy a haynes or chilton manual it will guide you through the process. if it has the old style servicable bearings you might be able to just repack them and adjust the preload, make sure you do both wheels. if it uses a sealed hub assembly like the 4x4's just do the side thats noisy.
good luck
