Gear Shift Indicator Light

I'm sure this has come up before in the past but...my gear shift indicator light is burnt out again. Its the little bulb that illuminates the red hash mark on the shifter.

Anyone know the bulb number required and how to get to it?

TIA of course

Cool You sure its the light

Hello:

Before you have to tear apart the whole center counsel.
Please check the fuse loacted in the back seat on the driver side (leff) There are a blank of fuse panels. One of those fues controls the light and other items such as the cruse control.

Good Luck, its its the bulk, you can replace it from any auto parts store.

Check out the site in the Aurora Tips post of 4-16 by kev's 96 Aurora. Scroll down to Interior and you'll find some good info on the indicator light.

Re: Gear Shift Indicator Light

Just be careful in there... the wiring is not super-strong and can easily break if stretched, hosing not only the indicator, but also the shift selector (a/k/a "More Power" button as my wife calls it :-)

Re: Gear Shift Indicator Light

Ironically that wiring was broken the last time the dealer mechanic changed that bulb. He added 2 extra inches of wire as slack, so now when I go into 2nd or 3rd there is less tug on the "go fast" wires, which really doesnt make you go fast it only delays your shift points, but thats off topic.

Anywhays...that tips page...it refers to 194s and clear 73's...which one actually lights up the hash mark? I guess I can go get both...cuz I am 100% certain it will burn out again. Hrm..LED might be the way to go

*edit* figured it out...73 is the shift indicator and 194 lights up everything else * I should read before I post
