Just Purchased Used V6 1997 Passat

Greetings Fellow Volks Passat owners. I just purchased my wife a 1997 Passat V6. The used car salesman knew beans about VW's.. The radio reads Safety or something like that. How do I get the radio to play, no codes or owner manuals with codes written on!! I'm reading about timing belts a lot in the forums, unknown on this car. 87,000 miles on this car. No known other problems. What type oil does this car take!! Thanks in advance for any help or future help I can get. Rich

Re: Just Purchased Used V6 1997 Passat

Read the thread "91 passat GL heideburg radio" in this Passat forum. VR6 uses a timing chain & doesn't have a maintenance interval. VW recommends 5W-30 or 5W-40 if temperature falls below 0 degrees F and not above 100F. 10W-30 or 10W-40 if temp doesn't fall below 0F or goes over 100F. 5W-30 is preffered.
