Lightbulb Decision Time.....

Do I really want a manual tranny in my B-body?
A T-56 would be the choice. I've been contemplating this idea for quite some time now....
The interior wouldn't have to be changed. It already has bucket seats. I'd just have to move the console back a few inches to clear the shifter. Actually doing the swap doesn't really worry me, I've done auto to manual swaps in other cars.
I think the only reason I really want to do it is to have something different. I've never seen a stick in a B-body...I've been thinking about this since I bought my first Caprice about 10 years ago. Since then I've had 5 of them.

The tranny is starting to slip and I'll have to change it sometime soon. This just seems like the perfect opportunity to actually do it.

What would you do?

If you followed my thread, 4l60 replacement, you know how much it will cost. I think there was a link to the Impala forum, they have tons of info on the T-56.

This is the link incase its not in there.

Re: Decision Time.....

I actually posted in that thread...
Cost really isn't the issue. I'm not about to go out and plop down cash for a brand new tranny. I'll go the cheap route with second hand parts, rebuilding what I need to.
If I decide to go with an automatic, I will rebuild the one I have at a cost of about $400.(don't know why I said 'replace' before) But, If the car is going to be out of service for a while, why not take a while longer and a bit more money to have some fun?
I'm just typing while thinking....I'm having a tug of war with myself about it. I have been for quite some time.....
