painting question?

do you generally mask off the part (such as door panels)?

Im thinking you paint the part you want one color (yellow) and mask it after painting then paint the darker color?? am i right? what all do you mask when you paint? thats the part i get confused with. Another thing what paints are best for airbrush? Do i need to order Tamiya paints?

Re: painting question?

i would paint whatever is farther back let it dry real good, mask that off then paint the raised stuff u want, but i guess u could do it what ever way u want to.

for the airbrush tamiya's always a great choice

Re: painting question?

well im not sure wat u got, but definatly a modeling knife
as for the sandpaper i just went to walmart and got this pack that came with 5 different grits whick work good for basic sanding (80-220), but if u want real fine grit for sanding the body after painting and such i would go to ur local automotive store and pics up several grades of paper between 1000 and 15000

Re: painting question?

seeing as we're on the subject of sandpaper.
do we use the same grading system in the uk as you do in the us?
the best i've seen so far in my diy store is 600.
or do i really have to go to a hobby store to get it cos there aren't any around here that i know of.
