Newbie here. I picked up a fairly low mile 2001 catera a couple of weeks ago, and changed the air filter , had new frt. rotors put on, and the wheels balanced.
But I would like to replace the fuel filter. On my prior car, you would press the fuel shut off button in the trunk and then crank the motor for a few seconds and that would depressurize the fuel system to change the filter. Does anybody know of a thread or link to something that can give me the procedure to do this on this car ? Or is this strictly a dealership change. I'm too young to give up working on my cars, I love to tinker on them. It has 30,000 mls. |

Re: changing fuel filter
there really is no need to releave the fuel pressure, just put a rag on the filter so gas won't spray in your face. or you can releave the pressure with the schroeder valve on the fuel rail.
