error code scanner or reader

I have a 93 J30, does anyone know of a code reader or scanner that can give me code numbers?

I rebuilt the motor and have been having trouble getting the car to run for more than two days without the engine check light coming on. I replaced many components, but without the codes I'm wasting a lot of time.

thanks in advance.

Get a hold of a service manual. It will show you how to perform diagnosis using the cars computer. There is an LED on the computer that will "flash" the codes.I have lots of manuals if needed.
good luck

I was wondering how the codes pulled out (a connector that pins are shorted to read) and is there an error code page you can send me?
