Talking Another stoplight to stop light kill!

well i just got home from chilling with my boy, he has borrowed his sister 02-03 corolla s.. so we decide to go to a secluded area and run the tow cars..
the reason he was so eage to run me was b/c i got my boost leak fixed form my by-pass valve and now im making around 9-10psi of boost, so when i came by and passed him he heard my by-pass thrugh my cone filter and was like "DAMMM UR SHIT SOUND HEALTHY"

we we are at the place, wating for the light to turn green, my boy stages the corolla i dont even to put the probe in 1st or 2nd i figure ill get him from drive.. i dont bother launching ither. so he launches and gets ahead of me a little, my front bumper is my his fender, but i was only there for about a second b/c of turbo lag, but as soon as by boost kicked in i pulled past his front bumper, i was making 7psi the car changed into 2nd and the needel jumper to around 10psi and i kept pulling on him by thinis time he was at my bumper and falling back, so i let off b/c of another stop light.. so he rolls up to be and is like" damm i knew the probe was quick but i still taught it was a p.o.s. ford" then he was like "damm u and your boost!" then we end off driving off and hanging out, he said that he can really hear the by-pass "phisshhing" when i shift gears.. lolz

man i love boost!

Re: Another stoplight to stop light kill!

first. you raced a corolla, unless this was an ae86 souped up, this story was easy to tell who would win.
second. do a manual swap, cause automatics are not for racing, unless <once again> you have some top fuel drag car that runs 4's

come on!

umm well i disagree that autos sux for racing, b/c i do not loose boost inbetween shifts like the 5sp guys.. i keep constant that is hard to do with a 5speed turbo car...

Re: Another stoplight to stop light kill!

I'm with turbo on this one...autos have their advantages in racing. They shift faster, and the torque converter is loaded prior to a launch, so it puts less stress on the tranny when you really turn up the boost and launch hard.

However...if I were you...i wouldn't be bragging about beating a corolla either (their selling point is more rear passenger leg room for a reason)

Re: Another stoplight to stop light kill!

Good kill. I knew a guy from another board that had a modified Probe GT. Sucker was stout. His was the 5 speed though. I believe he put a larger turbo on it. Most Corollas are little more then a 16 sec. car at best, so they really aren't drag strip machines. That might change shortly though, because they are putting the Celica GT-S motor in them this year I believe (Top model level).

Re: Re: Another stoplight to stop light kill!

i belive that the corolla -s has the gt-s motor and vv-i the varable valve timing on it.. i know its not the best kill but i was happy that my probe a car no 1 suspects to be fast is beating other cars that are simi- quick.

No it has the Celica GT motor on it. The GT-S motor has yet to make it's debut into the Corolla.

Um, man, i'm sorry but dont ever brag about beating a new Corolla. My grandmother has a 2004 CorollaS. I've drove it plenty of times. It has 135 horsepower........ Its slow. Period. It has 5 more horsepower than the base Corolla because of "exhaust upgrades".It's not worth bragging about. That Integra will be a diffrent story.

Who cares, why can't he race and have fun. He's already said his car isn't the fastest either, so it was probably about an even match.

Re: Another stoplight to stop light kill!

my car has about 145hp @ the flywheel from the factory with my turbo charger, thats 110hp@wheels if im lucky but i doubt that b/c my enging mounds are abuot to go so im getting alot of engin movement.. even with my intake and turbo back i still will be lucky to see 140 wheel hp, but on the other hand, this car comes with 190ft/lb so im guessing with my mods im seeing about 160ft/lb @ wheels which is great that why the car isnt to bad..
but i was racing for fun, a real race was when i raced my boys 300ztt and i acturaly beat him because he had blown turbos..
