the best way is to buy new lowering springs. im not sure if they sell them to lower it that much but they probably do. what ever you do dont heat the springs. thats an incredably bad idea.

I had set aside heating springs as a definite last option. I was hoping there was a way to lower it 3-4 inches without doing that. See, i've looked through all sorts of websites and such, and all the lowering springs i've found, will only lower it 1.5 inches. I really need a 3-4 inch drop. I know some people actually cut, weld, etc, to actually have "wedge" and can adjust height by literally cranking it up or down, but i do not have the know-how to do that. If it is easier than it sounds, i would love to hear about it.

But, 3-4 inches is really what I need to get out of it. Any combination of things would be fine, if i can get it 3-4 inches lower. I just can't find a way to do it without cutting springs or heating them or anything. I certainly do not have the funds right now to get hydrolics or air bags or anything like that. What about a combination of lowering springs and drop-spindles. But, that would make the front lower than the back, right? Would that be a 3-4 inch drop? I know some of you have had your car lowered. What have you done to get this drop? it really needs to be 3-4 inches. any suggestions? thanks guys. appreciate it greatly.

Ok.............Tell me what you think??? Will this work all together, and is it going to work, and is it going to lower it like I want, and is it possible to use all three things???

Ok, let's say I buy these lowering springs for front and rear:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...&storeId=10101

And, this Coil Spring Lowering Kit:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...&storeId=10101

And, these 2-way coil spring adjusters and stablizers:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...&storeId=10101

What do you think? I don't have that much knowledge of suspension techniques, so I will need some guidance.

Re: Desperate for ideas on lowering an '84

umm i dunno man. when i got my chevelle it had the same "2-way coil spring adjusters and stabalzers" on the rear springs. i really dont like them at all and i would personaly think they are probably dangerouse. the second ones you have up there would probably be better but im still not to sure about anything like that. the lowering springs i would say go for it. there is nothing wrong with lowering springs i think its the best way to do it with the excetion of drop spindles. you could probably use both up front and get your desired drop, but im just curious, do you realize how much 2-3 inches is. its usualy more than people think. you might want to get the lowering srings and put those in and just see how it is with those. it will probably be lower that you were expecting. besdies 2-3 inches is going to put you alot closer to the ground and make driving alot more chalening without hitting the road surface. i have 2 1/2 in. exhaust pipe below my car that runs straight from he headers to my mufflers. with that if i am not extreamly carefull, i literaly have to drive at an angle going over speed bumps, i will hit every speed bump. that is even just bearly rolling over the bump. not just driving. i roll up to it on the brakes and just barely go up it and then am on the brakes on the back side so that my suspension does not go down at all or i will hit it. so you will have that problem with your frame and if anything hangs any lower than your frame you will be even more likely to hit that. even the drive shaft becomes an isue here. so like i said you might just want to get the lowering springs and try that first.

Try getting some lowering springs. They will only lower 1-1.5 inches. Then get some 2" drop spindles. That would put you around 3.5 inches.

Drop spindles will run you anywhere from $175.00 to $300.00.

Well you could always think about hydros. I mean depending on what you want, I'm sure they could put the car on the ground. I don't know if air bags would work either.
