Flat out valve seals man. Its a problem with all of the 80's or so Chevy's they used o ring style valve seals. lol find a set of rebuilt heads L98 or LB9's and you will end the smoking and pickup power for cheap! though valve seals are around 40 bux I think for umbrella style seals sometimes its just easier to upgrade at the same time.

Re: when i start my camaro rs it puffs smoke

i dropped off the heads at a engine performance
shop, he's going to redo them and do some
port polishing and a valve job for around $260.00
does anyone know anything about the 355 stroker
kit for the 305? id like to do that since im getting the heads worked on.

I know that it's not a 355 stroker, it's a 335 stroker and I know a lot about em. It's basicly a 383 for the 305. But if your going to do that I wouldn't have your heads worked, I would get new ones, world products s/r torquer 305 heads.

hey man just buy some used L98 heads instead of having yours redone! They will flow better and they bolt right up. you will lose a bit of compression but not enough to really cost you any power. But 260 for redone heads kind of sucks I think. My 461's were p&p'd big valve rebuilt heads that I bought for 150

or have him grind the valves and seats then finish em yourself. i rebuild my own heads and all it costs me is about $20 for seals. of course i also have a valve and hardseat grinder. then i do the port and polishing with a die grinder
