exhaust

I was wondering what type of headers and muffler would be best to make my 93 f150 as loud as possible, and should i put a glasspack on it?

Re: exhaust

having built many custom exhausts on my trucks, I am going to give you some cheap advice. Loud sucks monkey nuts.

It is great for the first while, but then the wonderful rapping exhaust sounds, along with the deep harmonic created at and around the torque peak of the engine, start to get old. Not to mention the various profanities hurled your way by people who don't appreciate a loud exhaust nearly as much as you do.

I have found that with a small block v-8, if you go with a decent header, Hooker super comp, Edelbrock system, etc. you pick up some better flow for sure, then use a flowmaster style muffler, or any other old style walker turbo, and what you get is the best of all worlds. It is fairly quiet, with a nice rumble at lower RPMs, and barks hard when you get your foot into it.

This combo keeps people around you from trashing your ride because the volume hoos them off, it keeps the loud noise police away, and hey, above all, it sounds cool.

Remember, its better to remain quiet and be thought a fool, than to add a loud exhaust and remove all doubts.

Happy motoring

If you want loud, all you need to do is put on dual exhaust using a cat. on each side and run 3" pipes back ,No muffler. It's radical but might get you a ticket .

Re: exhaust

my buddy has a 96 f-150, and we just took a sawzall and cut everything off, down to where the 2 header pipes come together, and ran 1 pipe off one and one pipe off hte other (2 1/2 inch) and a 5 inch tip, one infront of each wheel and holey hell it was loud, if he got it up to about 45 and threw it down in 2nd and let it backfire a big blue flame would shoot out, and when u see a cop just push the clutch in and idle past and dont dog it through a town and you'll be ok

Re: exhaust

yeah, do it legally, glasspacks are obnoxious, and sound stupid. my buddy did it to his F-150, sounds like garbage. go with a high output turbo, maybe a gibson, or flowmaster if you're willing to go the extra few bucks. It'll sound nice, be legal, and turn heads (for the best).
