Just bought a 2004 Prerunner Dbl Cab V6!
hi folks, I'm now the proud owner of an '04 prerunner V6 Dbl Cab. I have a question for you folks. When should I do the very first oil change? The maint. schedule book says 5000 miles. Since the truck is in the middle of it's initial break in period, should'nt I change it before that? Troy

oil change
dude, put about 2,500 miles on it and then change it. then
start the 5,000 mile deal if you would like. i still change mine every 2,500 to 3,000 miles and i use castrol syntec oil, its the best. Good luck with your new toyota. |

Got mine with 4,000 miles on it, changed it right away, now I'm changing it about every 4,000 miles.

I changed mine at 1000 miles to get that nasty metal partical filled oil out. Then every 5,000 miles. That way, it's easy to see the oil change intervals coming up on the odometer. You knokw, 5,000....10,000....15,000...etc.

Here's the reply I received from Toyota's Customer service.
Subject Oil change required during intial break in period? Discussion Thread Response (Michael) 04/22/2004 10:28 AM Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. We appreciate the opportunity to address your inquiry. There is no need to change the engine oil during the break-in period. |
