non lemon law but truly a lemon

I was in the market for a new truck . I have read mostly good things about the Dodge 1500 Q.C 4x4 w/Hemi so I bought the truck last saturday. I was so impressed with the looks , handling , power, and over all feel of the truck. I mean I had the best feeling about my awesome truck. I was skeptical about buying at first because all my family and friends are driving Chevrolet and they said don,t buy a Dodge, they are cheaply made cars and you will have problems with it. So I tell all my friends & family, this is not a bad vehicle I have read up on it and there are no known problems that say don,t buy this truck. I guess its just my luck because I only have 400 miles on my new truck and I was about 200 miles away from home when my tranny takes a dump on me. The dealer that has my truck says that they will only replace the tranny if the repairs cost exceeds 70% of a new one. I mean even if they put a new one I am always going to be thinking whats going to break next. how can anybody not have these type of thoughts when a brand new vehicle has such a major problem with only 400 miles if I could take the truck back and get a full refund I guess I would. The sad thing is is I really loved my truck. Take this post for what it is just one problem out of many happy customers. This one bad experience has put a bad taste in my mouth that I don,t think can ever be removed.

I'd have pushed for them to replace the entire truck or give me my money back. Its ridiculous to have such a major component of the truck break down so quickly. That dealership should have been fallling over itself to help you out because they have to know you're going to spread the word on what happened to you and sour many people to their new offerings.

Cool

Call Chrysler on their toll free number and discuss it with them. They might be willing to intercede with your dealer and get a all new tranny put in your truck. I bought a first year Chrysler Sebring. The car kept having a no-start problem. After 3 trips to the dealer, their mechanic told me I was a nut and there was nothing wrong with the car. I called the toll-free and explained my problem. The factory guys called my dealer, fried his ass, and told him exactly what needed to be done to correct the problem. The dealer called me, apologized profusely, and then fixed the car. I was like you - feeling really bad about my purchase. However, since then the car has been pretty good. Your truck does have a generous warranty period - 7/70 I believe. At least you're coverered if the problem re-occurs in short order.

yeah, well, I have only a couple things to say about dodge's, they have quick, powerfull engines, but that powers' gotta go somewhere, and if the tranny isn't strong enough to handle it, it wont. I've heard of a lot of my fiends dropping their tranny's in there dodge's right around 60,000, which is rediculous if you think about it. My friend has a 1993 Chevy silverado k1500 with origional tranny, and origional 5.7V8, and its got 237,000 miles on it last time I checked, Still looks, and drives like new. Just something to think about. I've never ever had even the slightest tranny problem ever in my live. Although, I drive a Chevy.

also with dodge's you pay alot more for replacement parts than you would with any other domestic car... truck... suv.. etc... a starter for my friend's neon was 3 times as much as it was for my ford at the time..

At least you did not buy a Ford. They dont have such a generous waranty and have the same amount or more problems than Dodge. The thing about Chevy's, they cost a lot now, and dont offer great deals. I think Dodge was the way to go. What were you going to do with this car anyways? I almost say if you just wanted a truck for trucks sakes I would have bought overseas. Last forever.
