well, basics, intake, and exhaust, i guess the key question is how far do you realisticly want to go, and how much do you have to spend to get there???

I wonder if I'm gonna catch hell for this.
Performer intake w/ tbi to 4bbl adapter, holley 670tbi, comp cams extreme energy for computer cars or edelbrock cam, edelbrock TES headers, world products torquer 305 heads, flowmaster cat back. Don't have to go all out all at once. you can piece it together. Anyone of these will give you a good responce in it'self.

na will let you slide this time

I agree with the combo for remaining street legal...
though still not a fan of TES headers but they are emissions legal.. so eh oh well. On the Torquer 305 heads make sure to get the 58cc heads to maintain compression. Though to be honest you wont notice a huge difference if you got the 64cc heads.

ya see, ur pretty descent when ur not reffering to lemmings and tampons in people's asses.

I'd gone Vortec too on my 350, but there's only 2 junkyards in my town and there lots stops at about 1975, so finding em around here is called stealing

lol i had said my 2 cents it just got slightly heated. It happens with cars and car guys. No biggie.

I am running 1967 Chevy 461 heads ported and polished on my 350 vortecs stock wouldnt make much more than those... maybe 10-15hp. but thats only because of the valves and the porting and polishing. But hey 461's rebuilt P&P'd big valves for 150 who could pass that up?

But seriously if you want to feel a nice gain here. This will make the car feel like a lot more fun!

Open element air filter (20 bux rougly)
Hooker Aerochamber 3 inch cat back (290 roughly)
MSD or Crane ignition (150-250 roughly)
Hi flo cat (can find them for 60-100 on ebay)
Car will feel much more alive!
And hell you can prolly talk a guy into giving you a corvette L98 cam for free! Which will wake up the car.
you do that and headers I dont see why you wouldnt make 200-220hp.

Re: Upgrading 1989 Camero Rs 5.0 Tbi

i have a healthy 305 tpi with basic bolt ons that is making some good power (its automatic and ive been able to take 5.0 stangs that have had bolt ons themselves) so right there im pretty sure im workin with around 220hp and over 300 ft/lbs. of torque. just had a tuneup and changed the wires and its running like a dream and soundin mean. if you really wanna juice power out of these smaller engines take it in steps. tuning is the key. you cant throw a nice cam in without doing something to the lifters and your torque converter to really notice a difference. thats where these engines are misunderstood, however, sure it takes more money but if you put the time into modding not just the engine but the ignition, the fuel delivery, and the power delivery (driveshaft, TC etc.) you can have a really fast 305! my plan for the future goes something like:

180 deg thermostat
k&n replacement filters
performance chip (JEGS?)
fuel pressure regulator (gogo stock injectors!)
port and polish intake

ive seen other lb9s built up similarly running mid-low 14s in the 1/4, thats without even getting into the internals!
