Has anyone ever dealt with Maaco?

Hi all, I have to get my car painted and have a limited budget and was wondering if anyone has ever used Maaco. Their best paint package is $799 plus tax which is a good price and is guarenteed for 5 years. I already have my car cleaned and wet sanded with a 400 grit sand paper so that the paint sticks good. I have heard good and bad about Maaco. Any input, good or bad is greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Re: Has anyone ever dealt with Maaco?

I have Maaco sux, like bryant said you get what you pay for. Maaco is good for ppl who are selling their car and need to make their car look newer. But professional paintjobs are the only way to go. I heard Maaco paintjob's sux, they don't do a good job and the paint comes off and chips off much faster than a professional paint job.

Re: Has anyone ever dealt with Maaco?

Does anyone know if they wet sand the clear coat when the car is done or if they bake the car after the paint? The $799 includes base coat and clear coat and they call the whole package "the signature series"!!?? More thought please!!!

Did you wet sand the car before you brought it in to Maaco or did Maaco do any kind of prep to the old paint before they sprayed on the new paint? I'm just trying to get all the info I can.

Re: Has anyone ever dealt with Maaco?

^ I dunno, I just know a dude spent the most expensive one for a grand and he said the paint came off pretty quickly (within 3-4 years). They're paint quality probably just sucks and they don't put enough coats maybe. All I know is Maace is known for dealers and sellers to go to for cheap paintjobs to make their car look new to sell.

Re: Has anyone ever dealt with Maaco?

if you can find a local small business pro, go for it. thats what im doin simply to get rid of all my rust and body damage. im guessing 700 bucks for cuttin out all the rust, popin out all the dents, etc. and its a really good paint job too. my friend had his car painted medium blue, with some silver accents, and it still looks sweet. only cost him 700 bux and it was totally custom. ask around town and see if you can find any at quality at home painters like my friend did. i think itll be worth it, no maaco crap.

Re: Has anyone ever dealt with Maaco?

Apparantly they mix the clear coat with the paint so it won't shine as much.

Re: Has anyone ever dealt with Maaco?

Damm...has anyone had a good experience with Maaco? Every response was negative. I just went and got an estimate at my local auto body shop and they quoted me $2200 to paint and clearcoat!!! That sucks!!!

Re: Has anyone ever dealt with Maaco?

A cheap paint job is not just painting the car...the possible overspray can really mess the vehicle up. My brother went to a similar place and it they ruined the car.

A good paint job can be had for $1,500.
