B20b turbo ?

Ok now when I get my honda I am going to want to swap in a new motor and if not right away then soon after turbo it. Now I am going to want some serious power out of this. My question is how much psi can the stock b20 block handle safely and how much HP would that bring in? Or if I sleeve the block and rebuild with new internals would that be a better route for the long run? Now if I do the rebuild it may take some time before I can put the turbo in. Is this worth it in the long run if want some big power to take out Camaros and vettes. Or is this possible on stock internals? I really want turbo but dont want to spend a fortune but I do want good safe power. And dont give me crap about "go do more reading" or "there is more to know about turbos than you know" cuz I do read about this stuff constantly I just want some facts about the b20 because they are relatively new to mod and I dont know much about them.

Re: B20b turbo ?

Swap to a GSR motor, throw some 9:1 JE's, eagle rods, and a block guard in the motor, a good EMS, a turbo kit, and have some fun. The B20's have thin sleeves (84MM bore vs. 81MM bore standard on other B-series motors) which makes them weaker to turbo on stock internals. You really don't need to get a B16/B18 block sleeved to make enough power to run with vettes and F-bodies, so why go through all of that by going with a B20?

no matter what motor you choose, you should always prepare for the most power, definatly do the internals before you boost, cuz it will save tons of headaches later in the game.

I wasn't really recommending one over the other, but a lot of CP's have been on backorder for a while, while there are a ton of JE's on shelves because JE is a much larger business. Wiseco makes great pistons, but once again they're a smaller company and may be a bit harder to get quickly like some JE's.

So why a gsr motor? Wouldnt it be better to just get an LS due to the fact that they are cheaper and if I am replacing internals anyways?

Re: B20b turbo ?

he's most likely saying it because of the vtec head with 170hp. the ls only has 140 stock. but most people say it's a better motor to turbo because it already has low comp.

GSR head flows better, GSR has higher lift + duration cams for more power, GSR has closer spaced tranny for quicker acceleration, and with a GSR you don't have to deal with finding another ECU to run with a VTEC head.
