Help on my ludes system,

Ive got a 88 honda prelude Si, with the 4 wheel steering weeeee!!!!, all stock, except a less than stock 1.8L accord exoust on a 2.0 car, (saved $250)

anyways the prvious owner blew out all the speakers, and the tape player doesn't work anyways, so its time for a new sound system, my dad is paying for it, but he wants me to drive a month and be comfortable first, which is fine casue it would take me a month to come up with the cash anyways!!!!

so here is what I'm looking at, any suggestions, and I can't have any sub boxes (for now, but its no accident that this cd player has a pre out) and nothing used, im looking at standared CD decks and 6.5 inch speakers. under $200

the CD deck, 45X4, JVC, I'd like 50W, but none of these things really put out over 30W RMS, so its not worth the extra $20, I have a home theater system for quality
http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=86108&m=0

Cheap speakers for the front doors, just to save money.
http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=41188&m=0

Good speakers for the rear, pioneer, I will probably play 60/40 volume, back to front, so here is the quality
http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=87380&m=0

and then the instalation parts of course. circuit sity online says I need the JVC adapapter and then the honda adapter, im not to worried about it, I have fair electician skills.

any suggestions???

www.sounddomain.com

they have great prices, and include mounting kit and all harnesses when you purchase a head unit

Re: Help on my ludes system,

They have the worst prices on the net...right next to Crutchfield. The big names have big numbers.

Re: Help on my ludes system,

but they price match, so the price ends up being what you would pay just about anywhere else

laright this is waht I found, and Im really happy with it and the price, I won't be able to purchase it for about a month so hopefully there prices stay.

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PANCQC1110U
panasonic 50WX4, remote and front/rear RCA outs. $100

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/BOSC350
pushing 40W RMS all the way around sounds good to me for only $60, its an amp my friends, 4 channels worth

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/LITB1602S
cool yellow speaker will look great in my black car, and also, its a shallow speaker so my windows will clear. looks great at $30 a pair, all the way around, prefered 50W RMS which is close to my amps 40W.

what do you think, Im not allowed to have sub boxes (im only 16), and my budget is set around $200, defintly under $250, so $220 total is good. Any no nos.

and also where does the power come form to power the amp, and should I buy one of those wiring kits they sell, or since I have made my own RCAs before, and have built a home theater just scrap it togethether from the hardware/electronic store?

also how much of a sin would it be to just splice the front wires from the door, so that I can have an easy wiring job, and then do a full overhoul on the back?

how do I run the RCA's to the trunk without being noticed? sorry im a noob, but very very excited!!!!
basicaaly how do I hook up an amp, its not that hard, but I don't know whats involved either.

Re: Help on my ludes system,

That amp most likely wont give you what it says it will. And just cause those Lightning Audio speakers are yellow doesnt mean you should buy them, Pioneer makes yellow ones too but theyre probably above your budget. Those LAs arent good. That deck should be fine since youre not using subs though...it just wont have alotta freedom with the sound adjustments.

Re: Help on my ludes system,

headunit is cheap but should be reliable
speakers are shit
amp is shit

Really, I wouldn't be surprised if that setup sounded worse than stock. LA is horrible, and Boss is no better. Just go for that headunit and some Focal Access or Infinity Reference coax speakers in the front. Don't worry about an amp and leave the rears alone for now until you can afford something decent.

okay, I know what coax is in the hometheater world but I think that its diffrent for car audio so could you fill me in.

secound you are saying just get speakers of the front for now? and then wait on the rear, thus having no spakers in the back? cause everything in it now is totally shot, so I could only play it out of the front.

also if that head only puts out 25rms, should I be hooking up some 50W RMS infinities to it? or is that where the signigicance of coax comes in?

and then for the rear it would be ideal to wait for some $$$ and put in some mid/low range speakers in teh back with a stereo amp.

thnaks for all your help!!!!!

hey how long are u keeping the car for? and do u have a part time job?

from my experience, dont try to split your money up like that, buy things one at a time, you will need a little more than $200, but buying all this stuff at once isn't the smartest thing to do, just start with a decent head unit, then speakers, and if u wuna keep goin then an amp, don't go too cheap, you'll regret it later, im not sure where u can get ur stuff, but in downtown LA they sell stuff pretty cheap, the pioneer 6.5 4 way only cost $40-$50, really good with mids/highs, bad with bass (pioneer speakers suck for bass) so if u want highs/mids go for pioneer, i have 6.5 revs and the highs are good, mids are good, my friend has the 4 way, they are also decent, but even the 6x9 doesn't make good bass, so if ur lookin for bass from speakers go for some other company

not tryin to diss ur ideas, jus my 2 cents

Re: Help on my ludes system,

Getting good bass from a set of cheap speakers on headunit power is going to be impossible, literally, it doesn't matter what speakers you get. Since your rears are blown too that really hurts....I can almost guarantee you that a set of fronts on headunit power with no rears or sub will not satisfy you. Then again, getting even a decent pair of fronts and rears and a reliable headunit for under $250 will be impossible as well. You really need to increase the budget man, do you have a job?

IGNORE THE TOP IF YOU DON"T CARE ABOUT "IF I HAVE A JOB"

here is the deal, my dad is making me do 30 hours of service a month; in return I

get a car with 155,000 miles, and new paint,
a sound system after a month of driving experieince
a gas card
free repairs

THe local audio shop around here installed a sony 50W x 4 into our 15 passenger van a few weeks ago. But they charged us $350!!!! I would have told him no, but oh well. So i bassically called him and he said bottom line is going tobe around $300, so thats what I need to beat.

He really doesn't want me to pay for anything, but I could probably buy some rears on my own, I've got the money, just not the permision. He doesn't want me to own anything that has to do with the cars for power struggle reasons.

HERE IS THE MEAT

here is waht I want to do, all of these companies have good reps from a list of bad, questionable, good, and higly recomoneded from a thread a few weeks back. htese are all good or recommended companies.

http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/item...245&vq_id=none
clarion cd player

17W x 4 channles RMS, a little low, but a reputable company is less liely to overrate it products, I justify that I don't want some pievce of crap sony that will break, cause I have other things by sony, and they suck.

only one preout, but I won't be busting the bank for a front amp, and I don't want any subs, this should work fine.

good company, good preice $120

http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/item...2SI&vq_id=none

im going with the infinties, this should work out well, I will have my dad by this stuff, I will by the amp and the rears, these will be powered by the head unit, buty im not sure if its okay to run 17W through a recomened 50.

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/USAUSX2100
us acoustics amp, 100W to each channle RMS, good company, and black has less bling, I don't like bling. THis will power the rear speakers.

http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/item...X54&vq_id=none
mid range/bass spakers, to be powered by the amp, should sound good, these will go in teh back, my only inssue with them is that they are 5 1/4inch, which is bad cause that means they move less air, and I have to find an adapter for a 6.5 inch spot, and sounddomain doesn't have one.

thanks for all your help, you guys are smart, and great, thanks a lot!!!!! BTW, are these wring kits on ebay for $12 bad? or is wire wire? I figure it should be fine since im only running 200W. And then im unsure about where to drill a hole for the wire to the battery, I was looking this morning and it looks hard, but im willing to do it if I know how.

Re: Help on my ludes system,

I have a 91 prelude and i don't reccomend midbass/woofers in the rear with coaxs in the front because your leg will block the tweeters and ruin your imaging. What I reccomend is a good set of coaxs in the rear and components in the front. (or if you really want midbass/woofers in the rear, make sure you get good tweeters up front and mount them high where you can hear them). Good luck!
