Hey. I own a standard 89 Corolla SR5 and am currently looking to kick up the hp a little.. or alot. Since the SR5 is fwd, I'm guessing I can't just swap in the GTS engine (rwd, right?). Is there any other engines? Or maybe simple mods I can do? I'm pretty knowledgable when it come to automotives, so hit me with what you got. Thanks.

Re: 89 Toyota Corolla SR5
its not the sr5 thats fwd, it's the year. The sr5 is single cam I think and the GTs is twin cam but still fwd in that year. if you want rwd it's 87 and back.

Re: 89 Toyota Corolla SR5
actually, both the age gts and afe sr5's were twin cam, the difference is the afe, or your engine is made for economy while the age is made for performance. i have a '90 sr5 with the afe and i'm going to do an engine swap with either the age, or the agze, which is the supercharged engine they put in the older mr2's

like "racer in black said"... the corolla's were FWD after 1987 |
