My car starts hard and idles ruff at higher rpms
So it all started today
hooked my sohc ZC up and got her going for the first time....well had to roll it a few times for it to start, well it finally started and I let her run for a bit,it idled fine, then just wanna to take her for a cruise down the road, well shifting to second, gave it alittle gas and it started bogging out than it come out of it, same thing shifting to third and forth gears. I thought that it was probally not a big deal, just where it was started for awhile, well came bad to my place and parked her in the building, shut her off, waiting a few mintues started her again same thing, started like a son of a bitch. Got it going, than when I revd her she'd sorta bogg out, like it's missing or something, well anyways check for a code, it's flashing code 17 ( vehicle speed sensor ) could there be the problem ? Anyone have any ideas ? |

What other things have you done to the motor? If it was something sitting around for a bit, it would be a good idea to do some regular tune up to it, new plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor button, PCV valve, fuel filter, air filter. . . ya know, the usual. Is the distributor on the thing set properly as well, if its not set properly, this could cause a retarded spark, and will make the vehicle appear to be gutless. I would suggest that you try setting the distributor so its in the MIDDLE of its adjustment and trying it like that. Give that a shot. Also, you never mentioned it, but after the bogging or the hesitation and the motor works properly, does it pull like it should, or does it feel slow and gutless? Hey man, I was just about to message you up, Yeah it was sitting around for 2 months or so, I replaced most of the stuff you mentioned, I figured out why it was throwing a code 17, I forgot to plug in the vehicle speed sensor fixed that code, but now it's throwing a code 10 which is ( intake air temperature ) As for you questions, after the bogging and hesitation, there is no after, the only way it stops is by shifting gears and letting the rpms down, When the rpms come down it runs smooth but once I give her more gas and the rpms get to say 3500-4000 she boggs out Anyone have any other ideas ? |
