what's ground mean?

ok first of all I would like to ask if anybody can tell me step by step on installing my 4-6 neons onto one switch. I have the switch and some neons. I need to know what is an inline fuse and what does ground mean? also please tell me how to install all these neons so i can turn them on by one switch. thx.

To understand what a ground is, you first must know a little about electricity. Electricity has a natural tendency to flow from positive to negative. Positive is easy..usually.. it's the red terminal of the battery. A circuit is a flow between positive and negative(ground). If the positive isn't connected to the negative, the circuit can't happen, and you don't get lights. Think of it like race horses running to the finish. They can't get to the end (neg. terminal) if there is a giant hole in the track. Grounding in a car generally means a chassis ground; or connecting the negative wire to an unpainted metal part of the car. The car has a wire running from the body to the negative terminal, so the circuit can be completed. It would go; pos. terminal power=>switch=>lights=>ground=>neg terminal. Note: this is basic car electricity. If you don't know much about car electricity, get help. 12v won't hurt too bad, but it can really burn (you or your car) and you can destroy your computer/lights if not properly wired.
