How much HP?

I'm trying to figure out ABOUT how much HP I Have at the crank. I'll give you a list of mods, you tell me what you think.

B16A
CAI
DC Headers
High flow cat
custom 2 1/4 piping
straight through muffler
MDS SCI ignition with blaster 2 coil
10mm plug wires
Platnum 4 plugs
AEM adjustible fuel pressure regulator
JUN racing ECU (ECU advances timing, fuel curve, lowers VTEC to 5,700, removes rev limiter, and removes speed governer)
ACT 8.8LB flywheel

Well thats all i can think of.

Re: How much HP?

the best way to find out is to get it on a dyno bro, my guess would be about 170-180 hp if it is the b16a with 160 hp.

Re: How much HP?

I would say that 170-180 bhp would be a safe guess, but with the ECU chip I would drop the number down to anywhere from 160-170 at best maybe even worse.

Re: How much HP?

It's not a chip. It is a totally different ECU. I paid $350 for the beast. I would definately say It ADDS power and not decreases it. Plus I drive the car every day so I can tell a difference when it is in and when it isn't in.

Re: How much HP?

How does that make me an ass? I'm not trying to flame on Whtteg. I like his posts and respect his opinions. I'm just saying how could it decrease power and not add power. And if it DID decrease power then why does it Go faster when it is installed and not slower?

I am an immature little child and have no friends. I post here because I have nothing better to do with my life than make trouble on a forum that I constantly get banned from.

Re: How much HP?

Did you even read my original post? You must not have. Because if you did you would know that I have a little more that just spark plugs. Sure it is just the basics but what i do have increses the efficiency of the motor and lets it perform better. The ECU is designed to let the motor optimise thoes addons (commonly known as MODDS) witch according to you I apparently don't have. Just because I don't have some hot cams and a port and polished head doesn't mean that the ECU doesn't help any. Oh and by the way, Being how you JUST created your name on here and you are already dissing on others I don't think you are off to a very good start.

I'm not worried about FunkFlex. He is entitled to his opinions. If he doesn't agree with something I say then he should a present his self in a different way and maybe have a good debate, not go off calling others names

Re: How much HP?

The reason I was saying that you more than likely lost [power is becasue when you send your ecu off to a company they have no clue what your motor needs, I don't care who they are and how much experience they have they cannot know what needs to be changed. They can guess and 9 times out of 10 they guessed wrong. Most places just do what we call a "fuel dumper" they program the fuel maps richer than they were before and tune the ignition maps with more advanced igntion timming and in some cases you feel like you have gained power, but in reality if you get it on a dyno and compare the new ecu and a stock ecu you will see that the stock ecu created better power across the graph. The chipped ecu will probably peak here and there and be kinda eratic. But due to the advanced timming you feel like the car is faster but more than likely it is not.

*Note* I am not saying that ecu tuning is meaning less, just that it is pointless unless you have a tuner tune it with a wideband and a dyno. That is the only way, and I say ONLY way to get the correct fuel and ignition maps. No two motors, even if they have the same exact mods will need the same fuel and igniton map settings.

^I was fixin to type the same thing, but could not explain it any better myself.

Re: How much HP?

I know it is probably the same thing as sending it off and getting it tuned, but my ECU is a completely different ECU than the one that come with my engine. It is made by JUN. Now I have 3 ECU's total. So if what your saying is true, then although it may not add horsepower it will make my car have more power in the lower rpm's and if that is the case i would win in a race with a car of equal HP assuming we drove the same and had the same gearing and weight.. and so forth. Right?

No you would not win because you will be loosing power soon after launch and then the other car will pull on you. Also these ecu chipper's and reprogramers that I am talking about don't tell you about the down side to doing a fuel dumper do they? You will foul the spark plugs and wash the cylinder walls with fuel. The A/F ratio will not be good so you will not get an efficient burn. Like I said the only way to do ecu tunning right is to get on a dyno and use a wideband.
