talking in inches

v6's - I know the 3.4 has 160hp@4600rpm and 200lb/ft@3600rpm. I also know the 3.8 has 200hp@5200rpm and 225lb/ft@4000rpm. I know the 3.4L's bore/stroke is 3.62/3.31 and the 3.8L's 3.8/3.4. They both have sequential port fueal injection, and the 3.4L is a 60º engine and the 3.8L is a 90º engine. BUT how many cubic inches are each of them???

You can easily compute cubic inches from liters. For instance on the 3.8 (3800cc), just divide the 3800 by 16.5, giving you 230.30 cu in. I think that engine is 231 cu. in., so you will be really close. The 3400cc engine would be 206 cu. in.

Re: talking in inches

Thanks for the great info but I'm curious where did you get the 16.5 number from? O yea and are those hp and torque #'s at the crank or the wheels??

I have used it for many years, but I think it is because there are approximately 16.5cc to a cu. in. Crank or Wheel horsepower would depend on how the reading was taken. I think GM rates their engines at the crank.
