Greetings All...
I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler and the 30 amp fuse which controls the fuel pump keeps frying...so needless to say I keep a large supply of spare 30 amp fuses on hand. It just blows randomly without any forewarning (it blew 3 times this past weekend while traveling on the interstate!). Sometimes when I replace the blown one with a new one, the new one blows right away (as soon as I start the engine) and sometimes the replacement will go for 2-3 months before blowing Anyone have this problem? Any ideas where to start looking for the problem? Thanks in advance, Tom |

Re: fuse for fuel pump keeps blowing
Blown fuses are generally caused by short circuits or excessive current draw. I would start by checking the resistance of the wiring from the fuel pump connector at the tank back to the shutdown relay near the battery. It may be something as simple as a corroded connector or worn through insulation. Always start with the obvious. I'm not sure whether a bad shut down relay would cause a fuse to blow but it's only an $ 8.00 part at NAPA and might be worth the cost to change it out. After that, if all checks out I would suspect the fuel pump may be drwaing too many amps??? Just a hunch on that one....Let us know what you find.
