drivers power window problem..

My 98 Venture drivers side pwr window opens but refuses to close. There is no bind,it moves smoothly up and down when manually opened and closed. I've checked the voltage at the motor in both positions and its OK. I'm leaning towards the motor and not the switch.

Any other ideas??
Thanks....

Re: drivers power window problem..

Vehicle has an express down internal switch. If this sticks on, you will see voltage, but window will be trying to go down further. Best test is to put test light to ground under dash. Check one wire and try switch in both directions. You should only have power on one. Check the other wire, it should only light up in the other position.
Another possiblity is the internal circuit breaker inside the motor. These are known for being weak and don't reset right away. It's easier for the window to go down than up so only kicks out on up.

Take off the door panel and check out the whole system. My dad drives the very same van and the whole window unit fell apart when he let the problem go unchecked for too long.
