96' Lumina:Dash out/Tail lights out, brake lights work

Out of the blue one day, my dashboard no longer lights up, except for the indicator lights, such as 'low oil' etc lights work...

Also, my tail lights don't work, unless I am braking... so if I hit the brakes, the brake lights light up, but if I let off, my back end is completely dark! headlights work, but dash/tail doesn't

Any ideas? I have checked the passenger door side fusebox, but haven't checked the fuses in the engine yet...I have also read that it might be somethign to do with the turn signal switch???

Any info would be helpful! - I already tried replacing tail light bulbs... didn't help...
