hp help for my 1996 ford ranger?

i have a 1996 4.0l v-6 ranger sohc. i need to know how i can get as much hp as i can,still trying to stay california smog legal.i need help with parts and ideas.also i would like to swap out my automatic transmition for a manuel trans, any info on if it can be done and witch trans would be best to use.

Go to www.rangerpowersports.com they have a 4.0 section for HP & also a California club to help with emmissions.

summit racing has every aftermarket part avalible for almost anything. all you can do is exhaust,air filter system & computer chip.your manual trans swap will be more work than its worth.they do also sell bigger throdel bodies and mass air flow sensors.
