Genes and others

There are two things we deal with with genes... Human sexuality (and other things that have to do with dating, sex, etc) and diseases (cancer, bacterias, etc)

Anyways, I'd thought I'd ask you guys some curious questions that I was wondering about:

1) Would it be possible to take another person's X (someone with good social skills and athletes) into another's Y (someone who is not good with social skills and athletes) and make the person with the Y become better because of this gene?

2)What would make some guys better socializing with women than other guys?

Thanks

Yeah thanks for the help guys, I 'appreciated' that... Maybe I was trying to bring up a good example. Forget it, expected a bit of responses like you guys did... *Sigh*

Re: Genes and others

What does bacteria have to do with human genes, aside from being used for gene therapy?

Besides, personality has nothing to do with genes.

Re: Genes and others

Who says its only personality whether it does or doesn't have to do with? There are different types of genes and we have from 10,000 to 50,000 genes and contains what we call chromosomes, and males have X and Y while females have two Xs. The personality has to do with the enviroment around you where you were raised when you were a kid.

Until we find out how to give women 3 tits, I couldn't give any less of a fuck about Genetic Modification

Re: Genes and others

Every cell in your body has a complete set of genes, but only expresses a small number of them. Genetic code specifies which amino acids to use in protein synthesis, which determines the shape, and therefore the function of the protein. The only role of DNA is your body is to provide instructions on how to build it, not what you do with it.

But who's to say that the way you are built doesn't have anything to do with the way you approach different circumstances? Isn't it possible that some people are genetically predisposed towards different personalities? Not all brains are created equal.

Re: Genes and others

It's possible that you can have a predisposition towards certain ailments, perhaps the same could be said for your personality?

It's the old "nature or nurture" debate. It's my opinion that genetically, people are more likely to be a certain type of person, but upbringing is also a huge factor. Of course I have very little expertise in the area other than a few phsycology classes and minor biology study...hardly enough to qualify me as any sort of expert. However, as an organized society goverened by laws we all must believe at least somewhat in the nurture argument, after all, if personality were 100% nature then there is no free choice, and if there is no free choice then punishing people for crimes they had no control over is sort of cruel. It would be unconscionable to punish someone for a crime that they commited because of who they are. I'd love to hear other peoples opinions.
