Angry Turbo D15

I have a 94 civic vx with a d15z1 engine and I'm looking into turbo charging it.I have had ZERO luck in finding a turbo kit, it seems like there aren't any. Does anyone know where I can find one or if a turbo kit for a D16 will bolt on to a D15. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: Turbo D15

i don't see why a kit from another model shouldn't fit such as the one from a d16a6. the only major difference from one kit to another is the pipes, just in case contact a rep from turbonetics to make sure http://www.turboneticsinc.com/tsystems.html

u can also ask other turbo kit companies such as greddy or rev hard, but i think your best chance are with turbonetics since they can also make custom kits for your specific needs. hope this helps.

Re: Turbo D15

just a slight heads up... before you put a turbo on the d15z1 engine, you might want to think about working on your head/VTEC activation. you dont need the 12 valve lean burn mode now, so you might want to permanently lock your intake followers together so you have a normal 1.5L SOHC 16 valve engine.

I would usually suggest a SOHC VTEC head swap, but in your case, that might totally kill your low end and turbo spooling, seeing as how the z1 has a very aggressive dish piston, and the combustion chamber is very small, so adding a larger combustion chambered sohc vtec head would drop your compression drastically.

with the smaller rods of the d15, running high boost to go with the low compression is probably not feasable.

just my $.02

huh? i couldn't quite follow that. you said to permanently lock my intake valves together so i have a normal 16 valve engine, which is what it is. and you said something about a head swap for a vtec(i think) and mine already is SOHC vtec, so I'm kinda confused but I bet your right and i just don't understand it. i did know what you were saying about the compression and pistons tho i was kinda thinking the same thing but wasn't sure, now i'm debating about a swap. thanks for your help

Honda DX performance tuning

I just bought a 90 civic dx hb, and I mean it is in really clean shape. Has only 20,000 miles on new engine. So what can I do as far speed and horsepower, to make it faster, but not just loud and slow. I do not see it being a good idea to get a b16 because it will probably cost me 3000 for the engine and install. With a SOHC engine is the any way to still make it up to about 160 hp. Any help appreciated.

Welcome to AF. Glad to see you guys (or one of you) has searched before posting. However this thread is over a year old. Please make a new thread if you can't find a recent thread that relates to your topic to post in.
