Silverado POPEYE Syndrome

I have bailed out of what was from the beginning a nightmare. I bought a 2003 Silverado Z71 5.3L EX cab SB. It was one thing after another. It got so bad that I had 6,600 miles on the truck and it was in the shop 8 times and I drove a rental car for a week to boot. When I got rid of it, I had a 9th appointment scheduled! I have been a die-hard Chevy man as long as I can remember. I drove a 1992 Corsica that has 160,000 miles on it and just did a 3 state tour for my step-son. The truck was a big joke. I was so desperate to get out I took a $3,000 hit plus tax to bail. I refused to pay on something that continued to give me nothing but grief.
POPEYE Syndrome: "That's all I can stands, 'cause I can't stands no more". After VERY serious research, and consideration, I found a REAL truck I am proud to drive. I literally look down on Silverado’s.
2004 FORD F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab LB 6.0L Diesel. If you are thinking about buying a Chevy truck, you better think again. They are scrap and I will not be back. I have enjoyed this group. You folks are great and very helpful. If you would like a complete list of repair attempts, leave me a message and I will Email it to you. You better have plenty of paper in your printer so you can show it to a salesman.

Re: Silverado POPEYE Syndrome

I've got 7k on my 2004 and not a single problem. You got a bad truck. It happens. Good luck with the Ford. Did you try to exercise your rights under the lemon law? You're definitely in the mileage/age limitations.

Scrap? Then why exactly does the Silverado/Sierra outsell the Ford? I guess a lot of people have an extra $30K to throw away on a scrap heap. Ford claims that the F150 is the best selling truck, but it's not. The combined sales of the silverado and sierra (same truck, different badges) tops the F150. The F150 does outsell the Silverado ALONE or the Sierra ALONE.

Anyway, good luck with the powersmoke.

Grollins,

I've had my '99 Silverado for over five years and 58k miles now with minimal problems. Most of those were taken care of by the dealer at their cost even after the warranty ran out. You couldn't pay me to buy another brand of truck...... or a ford.

Heh, heh, heh, wait 'till ya start fixin' that Ford!

You though you took it in the wallet before....

On a Ford, only the expensive parts go bad.

Re: Silverado POPEYE Syndrome

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you had with your truck. I prefer Chevy over Ford. Ford trucks are way way way better than any Dodge trucks. Good thing you didn't go with Dodge.
