what year is my car?

Ok, this may seem like a really stupid question, but just humor me please.
Can someone tell me what year my cavalier coupe is?
I know we bought it in Oct. 98, and my family has always refered to it as a 98 model, but when I looked at the manual, the cover says 99. So which is it exactly?
I'm looking for CD player to put in, and I don't want to buy anything or work on it unless I know for sure. Then again, does the 98 and 99 model really differ?
