Angry Don't complain about the music being played

Well, I figured this would be the place for it. so heres my rant, feel free to comment.

Well, my Friday night was spent at a wedding/wedding reception, and my "Girlfriend" (more of a fuck buddy ) and I were DJing. And well it was an older crowd, more into Beatles and all that old stuff, and well, Im 16 years old, so I dont know much about the older music... So ofcourse, I played some of the old stuff that I knew, but was also playing the newer tunes just to mix it up, as there were also a lot of younger people in the crowd.

So...What happens when I play new music..I get people coming up to me "TURN THIS CRAP OFF AND PLAY REAL MUSIC BUDDY"...yea okay.., I mean, yes there were a lot of stoned/drunk people there, but still..I am doing this out of free will, otherwise there would be no DJ (not using my equipment, someone elses, but this is MY time not yours, dont bitch when your getting it for free) anyways, I continued to get people complainging about not enough OLD music was being played, Sooo finally when the next group of people stoof up to bitch and complain, I said Look, im 16, I wasnt around to hear the beatles and Elvis, if you want it played, you're gonna have to request it. "Oh Okay that makes sense" (NO SHIT) So I started playing EVERYTHING off the request list,...what happens next, "Hey I requested a song and you still havent played it" Uhmm lady...I played that song 5 minutes ago. "Well I didnt hear it" well thats to bad, It was played. "well can ya play it again, everybody will dance" NO, because last time I played it everyone sat down! Then I get people bitching there is no "NEW" music...so I said WTF, if anybody comes and complains Im gonna snap...so what happens... about 5 people come to bitch about the music again, I said Look...Im doing this, this is my time, your not helping me any, If Its not good enough for your, Please come and take a seat, and if your not gonna sit down and play "the right music" please, STFU and stay outta my face.

People like this drive me insane, I wasnt provided with a play list, just a computer with about 1200mp3s, so I had to sit there and pick out songs all night, not the easiest thing to do when you dont no what kind of music to play. The way I see it is, Im doing this for free, Its my time, Im not being rude to you, Im playing what I know. If you dont like it, make song suggestions, dont try and rip my throat apart.

Sorry, it probably doesnt make any sense what so ever...and its long too..so yea...just wanted to get it off my chest.

When an older crowd gets drunk they get very loud and opinionated. Don't take it personally next time, just roll with the punches. Do you DJ a lot?

i would have tured the music off for like 2 minutes. then when people start questioning why, tell them that that's what it's gonna be like for the rest of the party if they don't stop givin you shit about the music.

Re: Don't complain about the music being played

Mention some of the newer songs you played. If you played for example a Beatles song & then put on Chingy I could see why they'd be upset.

Jk. People will wine about anything. If you had played everything they wanted they would have bitched about it being to loud or distorted or something.

Re: Don't complain about the music being played

I probably would have just started taking suggestions and looking for some of those records possibly laying around and throw them at their asses. See how they like that shit.
