mustangs

Has anybody raced a mustang? I know some people and they say that they dont get traction for my balls because they are so light. From what ive seen of them, they are pretty hyped up and arent that fast. I know some are but those have been worked on a little bit.

Re: mustangs

right before i left to visit a college i raced a s/c saleen. whoo man that was a close race. he beat me by 2 feet. but once those 2 feet where their we stayed even up to 120. basicaly if you hear a whine froma stang be careful dems fast! as for base and gt stans thier pushovers if you got an lt1 or ls1. (stock for stock) i have a 97 z28 runnin about 380 hp 400 tq something like that and that was w/o a doubt a fun race.

but word of the wise. NEVER claim your car is faster or other cars slower. you never know what evil lies under the hood.

305 carb tpi or tbi?

I had an 89 GT and ran 14.42 at 98mph with a 2.21 60 ft...
My camaro with a 305 bone stock TBI ran 15.72 at 87mph... No where near my GT and my GT was a bone stock convertible 5 spd with 2.73 gearing!!!!! Thats just as fast as any LT1's and this was in a heavy full loaded power everything leather vert!!!

Re: mustangs

its tpi. the 5.0 might've been an auto too because it didnt seem like he was shifting, it was still funny.

Re: mustangs

ive heard about those small block stroker kits. to be honest i dont know what people mean when they talk about stroking an engine. what benefits does it give and what else needs to be done to the engine?

My mods were hooker cat back and Crane HI-6 when I ran the 15.7

and it did do it
hell I am running a 16.3 up a mild grade with a trans going and bad valve seals now!! you guys are so stuck in your ways you dont ever pull your heads out of your asses to actually see anything.

yeah the mustang might have been an auto. Mine was a 5 spd. All mustang guys tell you to shift around 4500-5000. I shifted at 6200. What people dont think about is shift recovery. They would shift at 4500-5000 and it would put them in a lower point in their power band while it would put me in a nice meaty spot on mine.

Stock TBI's are low 16 high 15 cars.
Which is why I am able to pull a mid to high 15 with my car with minimal mods that and I am a factory posi car. So off the line traction isnt a problem though with 170hp it wouldnt be a problem.
