My girl friend's Auto 00' tiburon has a odd problem that the dealers cannot solve, so I hope someone else has had the same problem or can help with some clues.
The car has 43K on it. During long trips, at prolonged higher speeds..80 to 85 for about two hours.....the car begins to hesistate. If you give the throttle anything more than a light push, it hesistates, the engine seems to break up, it spitters and sputters. If you let off the throttle it goes back to normal, but any increase in throttle and the result is the same. If you pull off the road and let the car cool off for about twenty minutes it will run ok for about a hour before the problem comes back. Also once the problem has started to occur, it happens at all speeds, and makes the car almost undrivable at low speeds. Once the car has sat over night, the problem will not resurface until driven under the original circumstances. Better yet it does not set the check engine light, or store any DTCs. So far the dealerships have replaced the IAC motor/assembly, and also a fuel pressure regulator. Any info or direction would be a great help. Thanks. |

Re: Need TECH HELP
Hmm, you might wanna try and reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and then giving it a try. You don't have any mods on it do you?

Re: Need TECH HELP
The car should still be under warranty. If it was my car I would tell the dealer that if they have to repalce the whole engine, then so be it but it is there responsibility to fix the problem. I am about to take mine in because it won't go into reverse right and it sticks in second sometimes. It might be the pressure plate. Also, yesterday was the first hot day we've had since I bought my tibby and I realised they don't like hot weather.

I had a similar problem with my old chevy corsica with stalling out and dying after driving for a while
there is a square plug in the front of your transmission pull it out and your problem should go away the seal around the plug when you pullit out should be light blue |
