car shakes when stopped

my 99 sl1 starts fine, but when i am stopped at a red light or stop sign my car shake like crazy. could it be that i need motor mounts?

So much sake would be normal, especially when the milage increases but excessive shaking can have a number of reasons, a bad mount just being one. You could have a engine miss, vacuum leak or some other meachanical/electrical issue. Some of these problems result in lower than normal idol speed which will translate into vibration, especially through the steering column.
